A small delay

I am ramping up and getting ready for a big training weekend. I also have a crazy schedule before I leave.  Today’s post will be delayed until tomorrow, or possibly longer depending on how it goes.

So what is this training thing?  It is the first weekend of Field Team Member training.  When finished with both weekends in the woods, we will know about:

  • the rules and legal mumbo jumbo of SAR
  • Tracking
  • Wilderness survival
  • Land navigation
  • Knot tying
  • Radio use
  • Evacuating people
  • Search procedures

I need some sleep to live through this one.

Lauren’s bags are packed. While Rattlerjen and her husband are off in the wilderness, we get to go stay with Grom and his big sister Heidi! Dog sitting when you’re a dog lover is, as Aaron put it, like a Spa Weekend with Extra Dog! This spa weekend will come complete with:

~traditional massage (Grom springboarding off you to reach a toy)
~hot rock massage (Heidi dropping a warm, drooly toy on to your lap in anticipation that you might throw it)
~makeover (Grom leaving delightful violet patterns when he misses said toy and grabs your limbs instead)
~a mud mask (when Grom leaps up on you to show you how much he loves you, smearing the mud from the snowpocalypse melt all over you)
~and a hydrating facial mask (Grom licking your face in case you missed wiping a crumb from your dinner off – he’s such a gentleman!).

Lauren is excited about the weekend as well. For the indulgent canine, he spa has such wonderful feature as:
    ~a play group
~sticks (which, like Grom, are her favorites)
~other dog’s beds (which, as any dog will tell you, are simply a better quality of funk than their own beds)
~and mud baths (for what else is better than plopping down on a nice cold, squishy patch of overly sodden earth?).
~And it would never do to forget, all this comes with a glorious towel down at the end of each mud bath, which are scheduled to occur at least four times a day.

Considering how much you’d pay for comparable services at competing spas, this is a steal at twice the price!

Seriously though, I know most people would think sitting for an energetic puppy who is being trained to be fearless, limitless, and to bark his head off is a terrible way to spend a weekend. What I can tell you is that I’ve been looking forward to spending time with the three dogs for a couple of weeks now because no one loves you as much as a well treated dog can. It really is a Spa Weekend with Extra Dog!
